AJ Styles Reveals Special Gift From The Undertaker’s Final WWE Match
AJ Styles was the one who received the honor of retiring The Undertaker from wrestling.
The Dead Man’s last match took place at WrestleMania 36 in 2020, where he took on The Phenomenal One in a Boneyard match. The cinematic graveyard-style bout saw The Undertaker defeat AJ Styles by burying him alive before riding off on his motorcycle.
On his Phenomenally Retro podcast, AJ Styles discussed his Boneyard match with The Undertaker. The soon-to-be WWE Hall of Famer revealed that he wanted to do something special for Taker after his retirement match, so he asked The Phenom’s wife, Michelle McCool, for advice.
AJ Styles Was Touched By The Undertaker’s Meaningful Gesture
Michelle suggested that he sign the gloves he wore during his Boneyard match with Undertaker and gift them to him. Styles did the same, and a month later, he received a surprise package containing Undertaker’s gloves from his last match.
AJ Styles said that he did not expect such a beautiful gesture from the WWE legend, and it meant a lot to him.
“So, this one was a big deal to me. After my match with The Undertaker, I asked Michelle, I said, ‘What can I get him, you know, for having that match with me?’ She goes, ‘Just sign your gloves, because he would appreciate that more than anything.’”
“So I signed my gloves, and I said, ‘Man, thank you so much,’ and I gave him my gloves. So, like a month later—no—his gloves came in the mail. So, I have The Undertaker’s gloves from his last match. It was pretty awesome that he did that. He definitely didn’t have to do that, but it’s one of my most prized possessions.”
AJ Styles retired from in-ring competition earlier this year at the Royal Rumble on January 31. His last match took place against The Ring General, Gunther. He will be inducted into this year’s WWE Hall of Fame class of 2026.
