AJ Styles has diffused the possibility of a dream match with this AEW star.

AJ Styles made a name for himself in WWE for a decade until his recent retirement at the Royal Rumble earlier this year at the hands of the Career Killer, Gunther, who made Styles pass out with his deadly sleeper hold.

Before WWE, Styles was one of the most influential wrestlers in TNA, and also had a major run in New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW), where he was part of an infamous faction called the Bullet Club, which featured wrestlers who would go on to become big players like WWE’s Finn Balor and AEW’s Kenny Omega.

Omega and Styles never faced each other in a major wrestling promotion, except one time in PCW Back To School Bash twenty years ago, where Omega defeated Styles. They had only been in tag matches together in major promotions, but their lasting friendship and star power make it a potential dream match for fans.

AJ Styles was recently seen talking about the matter on his Phenomenally Retro podcast, where he debunked the idea, saying it was “not gonna happen”.

AJ Styles Says Dream Match With AEW’s Kenny Omega Won’t Happen

AJ Styles was an inductee for the WWE Hall of Fame’s class of 2026 shortly after his retirement match at the Rumble this year.

The Undertaker came out with the entire WWE roster to honor the Phenomenal One, and personally announced that Styles was the latest inductee.

Styles has confirmed his retirement, so it isn’t likely that he’ll have another match, although he says on the podcast that it’s only unless something crazy happens, but he can’t imagine it.

The same dream match that everybody wants me to have with Kenny Omega. The match that’s never gonna happen unless something crazy happens, and I can’t imagine that.

Kenny’s my buddy, so to be in the ring with him would be fun, and we’d tear the house down, I have no doubt about that. But again, that’s not gonna happen.

The last time Omega and Styles shared the ring was at NJPW New Year Dash 2016, where they teamed up to defeat the duo of Shinsuke Nakamura and YOSHI-HASHI.

He was kicked out of the Bullet Club faction shortly after this match when Omega and company turned on him, after which he departed NJPW to join WWE, where he spent 10 years.
