AEW Stars Make Major NJPW Title Challenges

AEW Tony Khan

Three AEW stars have set their sights on major matches outside the company as they want to take the fight to New Japan Pro Wrestling.

Ricochet captured the AEW National Championship at Full Gear, and since then, he’s lived up to Tony Khan’s vision for that title. The bald star has defended his gold in AEW, ROH, RevPro, and CMLL. And now it seems he wants to take the fight to an NJPW star.

At NJPW The New Beginning in Osaka, the Knockout Brothers, OSKAR and Yuto-Ice, successfully defended their IWGP Tag Team Championship against Shota Umino & Yuya Uemura. After that match, a video played featuring Ricochet and GOA, as they issued some challenges.

Ricochet Putting AEW Gold On The Line

Ricochet warned everyone that The Demand would be taking over New Beginning USA, calling out Taiji Ishimori to face him for the AEW National Title. Bishop Kaun and Toa Liona warned that they smelled blood in the water and would be going after the Knockout Brothers and their gold.

The updated line-up for NJPW New Beginning USA on February 27th from Trenton, New Jersey is:

  • IWGP Global Title: Yota Tsuji (c) vs. Andrade El Idolo
  • AEW National Title: Ricochet (c) vs. Taiji Ishimori
  • IWGP Tag Team Title: Knockout Brothers (c) vs. GOA
  • NJPW Strong Openweight Title: Tomohiro Ishii (c) vs. Boltin Oleg
  • IWGP Women’s Title: Syuri (c) vs. Athena
  • NJPW World TV Title: El Phantasmo (c) vs. Konosuke Takeshita
