AEW Star Suffers Injury Setback; Could Miss Hometown Show

One AEW star is battling to get back from injury in time to appear in their hometown.

Sammy Guevara was last in action at WrestleDream as he joined his partners in The Don Callis Family Konosuke Takeshita and Will Ospreay in picking up a big trios victory over Kenny Omega, Kota Ibushi, and Chris Jericho.

It has emerged that Guevara suffered an injury during the bout – the latest in a string of them for AEW’s stars – with a concussion keeping The Spanish God off AEW television ever since.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that Sammy Guevara has suffered a setback in his recovery and he might not be able to make Dynamite in his hometown of Houston:

“Sammy Guevara. You know, just throwing that in. I know he wants to be ready [on] Wednesday. I don’t know if it will happen. But he had a setback. But overall, he was doing well coming back – recovering from the concussion at the last pay-per-view. And I mean, he should be back relatively soon. At least, that’s the hope.

“But you know, because the Wednesday show is right outside of Houston and that’s where he’s from. So he really wanted to be on the show. But I don’t know that he’s going to be on the show.”

What is scheduled for AEW Dynamite on October 18th?

Kenny Omega will be in action on Dynamite in the Fort Bend Epicenter as he takes on Aussie Open’s Kyle Fletcher. Jay White will be in action as well as he takes on Penta El Zero Miedo in singles action.

All eyes will be on the Dynamite Diamond Battle Royal as MJF looks to capture the diamond ring for the fifth year in a row but faces stiff competition from Juice Robinson and the rest of Bullet Club Gold.
