AEW Star: “Mercedes Mone Is Now A Step Closer To The Grave”
Mercedes Mone’s had a splendid 2025, until December arrived, that is.
For a major part of the year, Mone collected gold after gold by competing in different promotions worldwide, at one point, holding a dozen championships together.
She even gave herself the ‘Ultimo Mone’ moniker after breaking Ultimo Dragon’s record of possessing 10+ titles.
In December, she lost three titles, including the AEW TBS Championship, which she had held for 584 days.
Following her losses, she often crashed out on TV, displaying the emotional weight she had been carrying all this time for everyone to see.
After winning the TBS Championship on January 31, Willow Nightingale decided to celebrate with her friends, Harley Cameron and Kris Statlander, on Dynamite. Mercedes Mone crashed out there, too, falling face-first on a cake.
In a backstage segment, she later revealed that she was tired of the disrespect and would be stepping away from AEW for some time.
Mone competed in her first match of 2026 at CMLL La Noche De La Amazonas against Persephone, whom she had previously defeated in October.
This time around, though, her opponent flipped the table on her, defeating Mone to become the new CMLL World Women’s Champion.
Persephone Moves On From Mercedes Mone
After winning the CMLL women’s championship, Persephone spoke to the media, where she claimed that she was moving on from Mercedes Mone, who she believes is a step closer to the grave.
Y’all saw her, right? Even before last night, she had her screws loose; she is a bit crazy. If y’all said I’m crazy, imagine her. I’m done with Mercedes. She is already on the decline, she is old, she is tired, she is toast. Now, Mercedes is now a step closer to the grave, so now Perse is looking for something new. Also, being Mexican, I might become a double champion. I might challenge for a National Title. I can be World Champion and Mexican Champion. Who knows? But Mercedes is now in the rear view.
