Controversial AEW Star Claims He’s Better Than Kenny Omega

Kenny Omega is regarded as one of the best professional wrestlers of all time.

Yet, AEW World Champion MJF claims that he is better than the 42-year-old star.

Returning from his brief hiatus, Omega let Maxwell Jacob Friedman know of his intentions about reclaiming the world title. On February 4, he faced Andrade El Idolo in the hopes of advancing one step closer to his goal.

However, an inadvertent distraction from Swerve Strickland cost him a spot at Grand Slam Australia against ‘Hangman’ Adam Page, the winner of which would challenge MJF at Revolution.

On February 11, both Omega and Strickland appeared confrontational towards each other, with a brawl breaking out between them. The segment ended with Strickland spearing Omega off the entrance stage through a table.

A match has been finalized between them for the February 18 episode of AEW Dynamite.

Kenny Omega Is No MJF, Says AEW World Champion

MJF recently appeared on Chris Van Vliet’s Insight podcast, where he discussed his current and second run as the AEW World Champion and future goals.

When asked if he was the best wrestler to never compete in WWE, the 29-year-old said that the gap was so vast that it could not even be discussed.

When the host mentioned Kenny Omega, MJF laughed it off.

Omega? No, stop it. I love Kenny to death. If you put our names into a search engine, I can assure you, more people are looking my name up than his. Now, is he gonna go down as one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time? Yes, but that’s not the question you just asked me.

The question you just asked me is outside of the wrestling bubble. Kenny Omega has done some awesome voiceover work. He’s been involved in some massive video games, but he’s not MJF, and by the way, that’s no shade.

I’m sure people are going to try to clip this and make it seem like I’m talking sh*t about Kenny Omega. Kenny Omega is great. I’ve talked about Kenny Omega’s greatness when we wrestled on Collision a couple of years ago. I can’t say enough nice things about Kenny Omega, but he’s no MJF.
