A simple Google search can throw up results about the best wrestlers who have never represented WWE.

Yet, an AEW Champion believes it’s they who take the top spot.

Maxwell Jacob Friedman confessed this during a recent appearance on Chris Van Vliet’s Insight podcast, claiming that the debate was not even close.

After the 2023 At Worlds End, MJF decided to take some time off due to injuries.

However, his time away from TV built curiosity among fans of both AEW and WWE as reports claimed that he may jump ship. Friedman decided to stay with All Elite Wrestling after returning at the 2024 Double or Nothing pay-per-view.

He now serves as the World Champion in his second reign.

On the podcast, the 29-year-old was asked if he was the best wrestler to never wrestle in WWE.

Yeah, it’s not even close. It’s not even close. Before me, the answer would have been Sting. And then he wrestled there.

AEW’s MJF Confident About Achieving Success In WWE

In several previous interviews, MJF has revealed receiving an offer from WWE before he officially signed with AEW in 2019.

However, after personally speaking to Tony Khan, he signed with the Jacksonville-based company as he believed in their mission statement.

Speaking to Chris Van Vliet, Friedman speculated about a different future with World Wrestling Entertainment, claiming that he would achieve great success there.

I know I would have been successful if I went over there. I know I’d be successful if I go over there now, that’s why they’re still interested in me. I respect what they’re doing. I respect their product.

MJF is scheduled to defend his AEW World Championship against Brody King at Grand Slam Australia on February 14.
