Fired AEW Name Had Heat Before Departure

A former AEW employee reportedly had a lot of heat before the company let him go.

It was reported earlier this week that All Elite Wrestling (AEW) had released BJ Whitmer. Prior to his firing, Whitmer was a Coach/Producer in AEW since the company formed in 2019 and was a Judge for ROH Pure Wrestling matches as well.

The reason AEW released Whitmer is because he was arrested on Sunday, June 4th by the Boone County Sheriff’s Department in Boone County, Kentucky. Witmer was arrested for strangulation in the first degree and burglary in the second degree.

Following the arrest, PWinsider reported that Whitmer was released on a $25,000 bond on Monday, June 12th.

All Elite Wrestling issued the following statement following Whitmer’s arrest:

“BJ Whitmer has been terminated following his arrest on domestic violence charges. While talent and staff are ultimately responsible for their own personal actions, this behavior is intolerable within AEW. AEW has reached out to offer support to those impacted by his behavior.”

It has since been reported by Fightful Select that Whitmer “had some heat with how he’d produced a recent match.” The match that the “heat” stemmed from was not mentioned.

Before he worked for All Elite Wrestling as a Producer/Coach, Whitmer had a long career as a wrestler that saw him for ROH for many years starting in 2003 (the company was formed in 2002). Whitmer retired from wrestling in 2017, which led to him working behind the scenes.
