AEW Announces Championship Match For Battle Of The Belts IV

AEW

Most fans wanted Orange Cassidy to win the AEW All-Atlantic Championship at AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam, however, Pac would retain his title, and do it in controversial fashion. Now, Tony Khan’s promotion has booked Pac to defend his belt for the first time since that match, and he’ll be doing so at AEW Battle of the Belts IV next Friday.

Pac and Cassidy may not be wrestling in the upcoming match, but the battle that’s scheduled between Trent Beretta and Pac is certainly a sign that the rivalry is continuing, a feud that’s been going on since AEW Revolution 2020. OC doesn’t have a win over Pac yet in his career, however, each match has seen Cassidy getting closer and closer to a victory.

The most recent match between the two at Grand Slam proves that, with Pac being forced to use the ring bell hammer in order to finally take out Cassidy in a grinding match to retain his belt. The title defense of the All-Atlantic Championship would be Pac’s fifth.

On AEW’s Twitter, they tweeted a video promoting the match between Pac and Beretta, with Beretta saying that he’s out for revenge after Cassidy is now forced to take time off because of the hammer shot that he took from Pac.

Also dating back to 2020, the match between Pac and Trent Beretta also extends the faction war between Death Triangle and Best Friends, with Beretta’s Best Friends consistently giving problems to Pac’s Death Triangle for over two years now. Also, with the AEW World Trios Championship getting involved back in the summer, the rivalry has only intensified.

After The Elite (Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks) were suspended and stripped of the Trios Titles following the AEW All Out backstage brawl, Death Triangle – who are composed of Pac and The Lucha Bros – would go on to win the vacant belts after taking out Best Friends. Cassidy, Beretta, Chuck Taylor and Kris Statlander all make up the Best Friends stable.
