Absent Ex-World Champion Picked As 2025 WWE Star Of The Year
2025 was a memorable year for many wrestlers in WWE.
From winning their first championship to leaping to the main roster, several performers caught the eye of the WWE fandom.
To date, different names have emerged as the standout performer for 2025, depending on who is asked the question. Similarly, a former employee named a currently injured superstar as their pick.
Hollywood star Freddie Prinze Jr. has previously worked in the Stamford promotion as a director and producer.
During a recent podcast on his Wrestling with Freddie podcast, the 49-year-old revealed his preference as the Male Wrestler of the Year. The choices included Cody Rhodes, John Cena, Seth Rollins, CM Punk, Jey Uso, and Roman Reigns.
Initially, he called three wrestlers viable for the honors, but picked Seth Rollins, calling his promos and matches “top shelf” while also getting his peers over.
For me, it’s pretty easy. He went from one of the worst-dressed wrestlers in wrestling to one of the best-dressed wrestlers, and that’s Seth Rollins. It could just be Seth Rollins, though. That’s how sick he is. He would be my winner…and we wish him a healthy return, a quick return; I hope you get to wrestle for as long as you want to. [3:48 onwards]
Seth Rollins Discusses Backstage Politics In WWE
Seth Rollins recently appeared on the Mohr Stories podcast with Jay Mohr, where he discussed a variety of topics, including his injury and recovery process.
Being a veteran now, the 39-year-old also shed light on WWE’s backstage politics, claiming that he had to please a lot of people backstage to keep his place in the spotlight.
It was actually a good exercise in patience for me. I had to wait for two years before I was up on the main roster. So for me, what I had to learn was how to play the political game.
That was the part that I had never..on the independent scene it was very much a meritocracy to a point, you know, there’s a little bit of the politics that you have to play, but if you go out and the crowd responds, you’re going to get more bookings. You’re going to get a better position on the card. You’re going to make more money, all that good stuff.
