The tag team division in WWE has recently weakened following the exits of multiple stars post-WrestleMania 42. The yearly budget cuts resulted in some talented wrestlers being let go by the promotion, which has hurt the tag team division.

Part of the promotion’s most recent cuts, several established tag teams like The New Day and the Motor City Machine Guns, left the Stamford-based promotion for pastures new.

Other than them, Wyatt Sicks, who were the WWE Tag Team Champions till January 2026, were also let go from the promotion. Meanwhile, the MFT’s tag team capabilities were also hit with the exits of JC Mateo and Tonga Loa.

In this recent wave of exits, there has been some positive news for WWE, but they might have to wait for a bit to completely reap the rewards and revamp the tag team division.

Former WWE tag team champions make AAA debut

3-time WWE Tag Team Champions, War Raiders, recently made a return to the squared circle after being out of action for four months, as they made an appearance at the most recent episode of Lucha Libre AAA.

Their appearance on WWE’s sister promotion marked their first television appearance since January of this year. The duo has been hit with a string of injuries in the last few years, and that has affected their momentum in the company.

Ivar suffered a lengthy time on the sidelines following a spinal injury, but the duo returned to action in October 2024. They went on to win the World Tag Team Titles in December of that year before losing them at WrestleMania 41.

It seems like they’ve now set their sights on the AAA World Tag Team Championships, currently held by Pagano and Psycho Clown. During their return of the ring, War Raiders interrupted a 4-way tag team match and took out all the competitors of the match, i.e., NGD, Tokyo Bad Boys, Money Machine, and Mr. Iguana and La Parker.
