This year’s WWE WrestleMania saw some stars get badly bruised and battered.

WrestleMania 42 closed with a bang after a tumultuous contest between Roman Reigns and CM Punk on night 2, with The OTC finally putting away the Second City Saint to become the new World Heavyweight Champion.

Night 1’s main event saw Cody Rhodes retain his Undisputed WWE Championship against Randy Orton. An enraged Orton brought back his lethal punt kick from his Legend Killer era and hit Rhodes with it after the match.

With a spectacle as grand as WrestleMania, there was sure to be some blood drawn during matches and some casualties along the way. That was exactly what happened as both main events saw multiple injuries and bleeding for the stars.

#1: Cody Rhodes

Cody Rhodes was busted open by Randy Orton and could be seen bleeding for a portion of the bout. It was later revealed that Rhodes had to enter concussion protocol after the match due to a swollen eye. The American Nightmare took a lot of physical abuse during his match with The Viper, one that ended in him retaining gold but taking a punt kick from Orton straight to the face. If the injury ends up being severe, WWE CCO Triple H might have to have Rhodes relinquish his WWE Title.

#2: Randy Orton

Orton was also busted open in the massive main event from night 1. Both he and Rhodes bled from their foreheads, but an additional issue Orton was facing was an aching back. It was revealed just before WrestleMania 42 that Orton was in pain and injured going into his bout with Rhodes. His back injury was on display as he held it a few times during his match.

#3: CM Punk

In a breathtaking contest against Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight title, CM Punk pulled out all the stops to try and retain his belt. Reigns eventually dethroned him, though, and, during a spot in the match, even hung him upside down from the top rope and delivered three Superman Punches to a dangling Punk, followed by a shot to the head with the steel steps. This left Punk a bloodied mess, and he was bleeding from his mouth and forehead.

#4: Pat McAfee

Pat McAfee was in Randy Orton’s corner in the main event of Night 1, but was taken out of the equation before the match started when Jelly Roll put him through the announcer’s table. McAfee had to be stretchered out after being badly injured, but later came back in referee gear when the official for the match was down and out. He even took an RKO from Randy Orton while he had his neck brace on.
