Kenny Omega Reveals If He Is On Good Terms With CM Punk

Kenny Omega has commented on what he thinks about former AEW World Champion CM Punk.

During CM Punk’s two year run in All Elite Wrestling, he held the AEW World Title and was arguably the biggest star in the company, but what fans might remember the most is that he had two well-documented backstage fights.

The second fight was at AEW All In 2023 in London, England when he got into a shoving match with Jack Perry that led to a headlock. That footage was shown on the April 10th edition of Dynamite because AEW claims it was used to further The Young Bucks-FTR storyline. Some people viewed AEW showing it as a way to fire back at CM Punk after he criticized the company in a scathing interview a week earlier.

As for CM Punk’s first AEW fight, that was at AEW All Out 2022 in Chicago. After Punk won the AEW World Title, he did a press conference ranting about Adam Page, Colt Cabana, the EVPs in the company (like The Young Bucks & Kenny Omega), and other things bothering him. Punk was confronted in the locker room by The Elite, which led to a fight.

There are some details known about the fight like how Punk’s friend Ace Steel (a former AEW producer) threw an object at Nick Jackson’s head while Steel also bit Omega’s arm. It led to suspensions for THe Elite, Steel was fired and Punk was out of action for eight months anyway due to a torn left triceps.

For the most part, The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega side have kept quiet about the fight. However, Kenny Omega recently spoke about the incident saying he was concerned about Punk’s dog Larry not getting hurt during the chaotic locker room scene.

During that same April 12th Twitch stream, Kenny Omega made it clear that there is mutual respect between CM Punk and himself.

“Status with (CM) Punk right now? Um, I don’t know. It’s just mutual respect. We reached out to each other… I can’t really think of anyone that I dislike or have an issue with, especially an issue with wrestling. It’s not like, hey, we’re good now. It’s we were never bad.”

Kenny Omega Says There’s No Issue With CM Punk

The former AEW World Champion Omega would go on to state that he has no issues with CM Punk.

“Honestly, if it weren’t for a complete other factor, we would have been able to have that talk on the night of Brawl Out. There’s no issue between him and I, as far I know (Omega laughed). I don’t think there is at all.”

“That’s another thing too guys. I don’t wanna seem standoffish or secretive about what happened. Yes, there’s legalities and all that stuff but even if there wasn’t, and I know this is gonna sound weird because I’ve done a lot of comedy stuff in wrestling, but like, I’m actually not a huge fan of pulling back the curtain on stuff that doesn’t need to be out in public.

“If for whatever reason, guys were to fight or whatever, it’s not for the public to know. That’s just for them to air out their stuff to get it out of their system. That’s all I mean.”

Fans of CM Punk and Kenny Omega will have to wait for both men to return to the ring. Omega has had an ongoing battle with diverticulitis that will likely require surgery and his in-ring return date is unknown.

As for CM Punk, he’s out of action with a torn right triceps that he suffered at January’s WWE Royal Rumble and likely won’t be able to return until the summer.
