AEW Signs Coveted Free Agent

Tony Khan AEW

The AEW roster continues to grow as a talented free agent wrestler has chosen to be All Elite rather than sign with WWE.

It was on January 1st, 2024 when it became known in the pro wrestling world that former NWA Women’s World Champion Kamille was a free agent.

Kamille is a Durham, North Carolina native who had an incredible 813-day reign as the NWA Women’s World Champion. That title reign came to an end at the hands of Kenzie Paige on Night Two of the NWA 75th Anniversary Show in August 2023.

As for what’s next, Fightful Select reports that Kamille has signed with All Elite Wrestling. Kamille recently stated on Twitter/X that she has been signed since February.

This would also support a previous report from February 2024 originally from PWInsider stating that Kamille was expected to join All Elite Wrestling.

During a media call before AEW Revolution, All Elite Wrestling’s Owner, CEO & GM Tony Khan said that he considered Kamille to be a great free agent. Khan would go on to say that she was somebody the promotion had scouted because they thought she would be a great fit for AEW. If she has been signed since February as reported, that means she was already under contract when Khan made those comments before the AEW Revolution PPV in March.

Kamille Details Signing Process That Led To Joining AEW

In a March interview, Kamille talked about her decision to join AEW although she didn’t name the company specifically.

“My last match was the end of November, and I knew I was going to take all the December off because I knew what was to come. And I was like, I’m getting myself December. Once January started, January 1, I was a free agent. It was funny, of course I have confidence in myself and I know that I did a wonderful job at NWA as champion.

I had no idea what to expect in free agency, I really didn’t. And so when January 1 hit, things got crazy. And in the best of ways, right. I was just excited, you know, if people were interested, and then I found out that lots of people were interested.

I like to really, really think about things and weigh out pros and cons. And so I was like, Okay, I’m gonna get myself all of January to really make the best decision for not only myself, I’m a married woman, right? I have like my family. And so just just make the right decision for everything. And yeah, then, when February came, I said all right time to make a decision!”

The husband she is referring to is former WWE star Tom Latimer, who also has worked a lot for the NWA and was once married to WWE’s Charlotte Flair as well.
