Becky Lynch has opened up about the fight for equal pay in the wrestling business for women as she reflects on Mercedes Mone’s bumper deal with AEW.

Mercedes Mone finally debuted for AEW at Big Business putting an end to all the speculation about her future. Mone’s arrival in Tony Khan’s company has fans excited about what it might mean for the women’s division in AEW with an expected renewed focus given the rumoured size of her contract.

Becky Lynch Wants Equal Work For Equal Pay

Speaking to the Orlando Sentinel, Becky Lynch was asked about rumours surrounding Mercedes Mone’s AEW contract which is believed to make her among the highest-earning female wrestlers in the world. Lynch said it was important that on-screen revolutions translate into dollars:

I think that’s an important part, getting paid equally for the equal work and the equal position we are at right now. Women’s evolutions and revolutions are fine and well, but making sure that they equate to contracts and financial reward for these things, when we are doing equal work, is hugely important.

Becky Lynch has been at the forefront of the women’s revolution in WWE becoming the first woman to win a WrestleMania main event in history back in 2019. Becky Lynch will challenge Rhea Ripley for the Women’s World Championship at WrestleMania 40.
