WWE Smackdown Preview for Tonight’s Show Including Money in the Bank Rematch, Big E Returns

TJR Wrestling

Here is the what WWE has advertised so far for WWE Smackdown Live tonight in Providence, Rhode Island.

* There is only one match announced so far with Roman Reigns facing Elias (w/Shane McMahon) in a rematch from Money in the Bank. Their match at Money in the Bank was over in about 10 seconds after Elias attacked Reigns in a backstage segment and then Elias went to the ring to perform a “concert” where he insulted the fans. Reigns came storming down the ramp and beat Elias with a Spear to win the match very quickly. Tonight, they have a rematch.

* Bayley will be interviewed on Smackdown to get her reaction to winning the Smackdown Women’s Championship from Charlotte Flair at Money the Bank. If I had to guess, there will probably be an interruption from Charlotte Flair and perhaps other women on Smackdown as well.

* The 24/7 Title was introduced on Raw and R-Truth ended up as the new champion after he beat Robert Roode for the title in the parking lot. Truth is a Smackdown guy that said on Twitter that he was bringing the title to Smackdown, so there should be more 24/7 Title defenses on Smackdown tonight.

Of course, R-Truth called it the European Title on Twitter. He’s a funny guy.

* Big E is back after missing just over a month due to knee surgery. Here’s how WWE.com describes what The New Day has planned for the big guy.

He’s back! After spending the past month on the shelf (and Twitter) following knee surgery, Big E is returning to SmackDown LIVE, and The New Day could not be happier! In fact, WWE Champion Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods are throwing a celebration you won’t want to miss. What do they have planned to welcome back their friend? Find out when SmackDown LIVE kicks off at 8 ET on USA!

This will probably lead to speculation that Big E might turn on his New Day buddies, but I hope not. I like the New Day trio together and I don’t think a split would be a smart move.

* There is also a tease of Daniel Bryan’s tag team revolution on Smackdown. From WWE.com:

Daniel Bryan’s promise to change tag team competition hit a bump in the road during the WWE Money in the Bank Kickoff when he and Rowan lost to The Usos in a non-title match. A strangely meditative Bryan was interviewed after the battle, during which he promised to “stand up” and reevaluate his revolution. Will he show the results of his reflections? Find out on SmackDown LIVE, tonight at 8/7 C on USA Network!

My review of Smackdown will not be live because I’ll be watching the NBA Playoffs featuring my Toronto Raptors in a huge game 4 at home. I’ll try to get the review up late tonight, but it might be up on Wednesday morning.
