WWE Championship Match Announced for Crown Jewel on Nov. 2

A huge match has been announced for the WWE Championship: AJ Styles will defend his title against Daniel Bryan at Crown Jewel on November 2 in Saudi Arabia.

Daniel Bryan defeated The Miz at WWE Super Show-Down on Saturday in a match that ended in under three minutes when “Mr. Small Package” Bryan pinned Miz to win the match quicker than everyone anticipated. As a result, Bryan gets to challenge Styles for the WWE Title. Here’s more info on that match from WWE.com:

In the enchanting city of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, dreams really can come true, for the WWE Crown Jewel pay-per-view on Friday, Nov. 2, will feature WWE Champion AJ Styles in a dream match against Daniel Bryan.

Since his heroic return from a career-ending injury, Daniel Bryan has had two things on his mind: Taking down his long-time adversary, The Miz, and reclaiming his place at the top of the WWE mountain. At WWE Super Show-Down in Melbourne, Australia, Bryan took a big step toward both goals, overcoming The A-Lister in a hard-fought matchup to earn himself a WWE Championship opportunity.

SmackDown LIVE has truly become The House that AJ Styles Built, as The Phenomenal One has taken on all comers week-in, week-out, to establish himself as one of the premier Superstars in the squared circle today. On that path, Styles and Bryan clashed in a highly-anticipated blue brand main event back in April. However, before a winner could be decided, Shinsuke Nakamura interfered and left the outcome unresolved. Now, the WWE Universe will finally get to see who the better man truly is, in what promises to be a classic contest between two of WWE’s most skilled competitors.

Don’t miss the WWE Championship Match at the King Saud University Stadium on Friday, Nov. 2, when WWE Crown Jewel streams live on the award-winning WWE Network.

It should be an awesome match and there will be one month to build it up on Smackdown. I was hoping this match would be saved for Survivor Series later in November, but I guess it doesn’t matter that much.

There was a bit of controversy to Bryan’s win over Miz at Super Show-Down as well because as The Miz shared in this Instagram post from the match, you can see that one of The Miz’s shoulders is up off the mat while the ref is counting on the other side of their bodies.

Look for Miz to whine about it on Smackdown this week. Whether that leads to a rematch with Bryan with the same stipulations is not known. I doubt it becomes a triple threat since there’s already a triple threat at Crown Jewel for the Universal Championship with Roman Reigns defending against Braun Strowman and Brock Lesnar.

An interesting note about Styles’ WWE Title reign is that he won it last year on the November 7, 2017 edition of Smackdown. That means when he defends it on November 2nd against Bryan, it will be 360 days into the title reign. Can Styles make it to one year as WWE Champion? I think he’ll retain, but it’s possible that his title run ends in Saudi Arabia.

Another big match that is likely for Crown Jewel is The Undertaker and Kane vs. Triple H and Shawn Michaels, but it’s not official yet.
