Update On Length Of Brock Lesnar’s Current WWE Contract

Brock Lesnar is back in WWE after returning at SummerSlam, fresh off of signing a new contract with the company.

Prior to returning, Lesnar had been absent from WWE for 16 months, last appearing at WrestleMania 36. The break marked Lesnar’s longest absence from the company since 2012.

Following the former Universal Champion’s stunning comeback, a new report from Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select has provided an update on what Lesnar’s new deal entails. The report notes that WWE wanted Lesnar back earlier in the summer, before adding that what WWE wanted and what Lesnar wanted weren’t necessarily the same thing.

However, now that Lesnar is back those within WWE are under the impression he is under contract for “roughly a year and a half, and for at least 8 matches.”

At SummerSlam after a grueling encounter for the Universal Championship, Roman Reigns retained his title finally pinning John Cena after a huge Spear. While Reigns celebrated as he has done so many times over the last year, that familiar music echoed throughout the arena.

Brock Lesnar was back.

Sporting a new grizzled look, the 44-year-old Lesnar marched to the ring in trademark fashion, soaking in the adoration from the fans as he went. Taking his time, The Beast finally entered the ring sauntering up to Reigns as only a man with multiple titles in multiple sports can do.

The pair exchanged words in the middle of the ring before Reigns walked away.

The scene was played out in front of not only a raucous crowd but also a stunned Paul Heyman. Reigns’ Special Counsel famously appeared as Lesnar’s advocate for the vast majority of his career. The former ECW head honcho managed to compose himself enough to leave alongside his current charge.

It was mentioned on Twitter by the Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer that Lesnar and Becky Lynch’s presence has helped ticket sales for Smackdown this week.

Lesnar is expected to be on Smackdown tomorrow night according to this commercial aired by WWE earlier in the week.
