Report: Jinder Mahal Signs New Deal to Remain in WWE

The phrase “don’t hinder Jinder” could be uttered today because it is being reported by Pro Wrestling Sheet that Jinder Mahal has signed a new deal with WWE that is believed to be for another five years.

There are no details on how much the deal is worth, but the big discussion in wrestling this year is that WWE is trying to lock up talent to five year deals to keep them from leaving. Due to WWE having more money coming in thanks to the $2 billion in US TV money in the next five years, the superstars are also being offered more money to stay. Part of it is that WWE wants to keep talent from leaving for AEW or another promotion, but also WWE can afford to give the wrestlers bigger deals.

Mahal, who will turn 33 years old in July, had his greatest WWE accomplishment in 2017 when he was the WWE Champion on the Smackdown brand for 170 days. Mahal has also held the US Title in WWE. Mahal recently held the comedic 24/7 Title when he pinned R-Truth at an airport tarmac, but then he lost the title back to Truth while sleeping on a plane. He’s actually a two-time 24/7 Champion now.

Others that have recently re-signed with WWE on five-year deals are Mojo Rawley as well as the married couple Mike and Maria Kanellis (Bennett).

Could this new contract for Mahal mean that he’s going to get a push on Raw or Smackdown again? That’s not known, but it does make sense for WWE to want to utilize people that they just gave a new deal to. For now, Mahal is just a part of WWE, but he hasn’t been featured that much over the last year.
