Bayley’s rough time in WWE continues.

On the July 14 RAW episode, the ‘Role Model’ faced Lyra Valkyria in a 2 out of 3 falls match, with the winner facing Becky Lynch for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship at SummerSlam.

All three women had faced off just 24 hours prior at WWE Evolution PLE in a triple threat match for Lynch’s belt.

She has been involved in a heated feud with Valkyria since returning to WWE.

What initially began as a friendship has now evolved into a full-blown, animosity-filled rivalry, as both women are often featured in backstage or in-ring segments, mouthing off at each other.

In a surprise turn of events, she lost her recent match to her adversary, setting up another all-Irish title match at the ‘Biggest Party of the Summer.’

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio discussed Bayley’s position in the Stamford-based company, likening it to Sami Zayn’s.

100% the bigger match is Bayley. But it feels to me that Bayley is kind of the female Sami Zayn — that they see her as someone who is really good, but her role is to lose to the people that they’re really serious about. And for whatever reason, Lyra Valkyria is that person right now. [H/T Ringside News]

Meltzer also agreed that Lyra Valkyria’s physical transformation may be one of the reasons behind her push in WWE.

Bayley Recalls Her NXT Days After Evolution

Bayley opened WWE Evolution with Becky Lynch and Lyra Valkyria, competing for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship.

In a hard-fought match, she got pinned by Lynch to retain her title.

Despite the loss, the former women’s world champion remained upbeat and recalled her NXT days, comparing them to Evolution.

While she continues to put on great matches for the promotion, for WWE, the Role Model may have peaked.
