WWE Still Want Steve Austin At WrestleMania
Steve Austin was one of the headline acts at WrestleMania 38 in his home state of Texas but with 2023’s edition of the event now just a few short weeks away, it seems WWE is trying to lure Austin back once more.
Stone Cold Steve Austin was set to be part of The KO Show hosted by Kevin Owens at WrestleMania 38 after Owens had spent weeks talking trash about Texas and Texans. When both men got to the ring, however, the real plan became clear as Owens challenged Austin to a match which was quickly accepted.
The two men engaged in an entertaining brawl with Austin picking up the win in his first match since losing to The Rock at WrestleMania 19 some nineteen years prior.
There had been rumours that WWE was looking to bring Steve Austin back once again as WrestleMania goes Hollywood but with the event getting closer, that trail had looked to have gone cold. However, Fightful Select has now reported that Austin still might be in the works for the show.
Austin is said to have been receptive to pitches for another match and had been offered a blockbuster bout with Brock Lesnar but the money involved was said to be a “non-starter.” Austin was then reportedly offered a “significantly higher amount” to face Roman Reigns but never got back to WWE about the idea.
The report touches on rumours that Austin could be in some way involved on the show with LA Knight and while that has not been verified, the idea is said to have been pitched.
