Ex-WWE Writer Reveals Vince McMahon’s Favorite Child

Vince McMahon had a favorite child, and an ex-WWE writer reveals who it was.

Mr. McMahon, married to Linda McMahon, has two children: Shane McMahon and Stephanie McMahon. Both of his children were heavily involved with the WWE in the past. Both of them were active on-screen and had major backstage roles as well.

Shane McMahon has stepped away from WWE for a while now. His last WWE appearance was on April 2, 2023, at WrestleMania 39, where he suffered a legitimate torn quad muscle during a surprise match. He has been largely away from the pro wrestling business since then.

While Stephanie McMahon stepped down as the Chairwoman and Co-CEO of WWE in January 2023. She was inducted into the Hall of Fame Class of 2026.

Vince McMahon Always Favored His Daughter, Stephanie McMahon, Over His Son Shane McMahon

During a new interview with Wrestling Life, ex-WWE writer Vince Russo was asked if he thinks Vince McMahon had hoped Shane McMahon would take over WWE and continue his legacy.

Russo replied no, saying that Stephanie McMahon is Vince McMahon’s favourite child. Russo added that he witnessed personally how Vince treated both Shane and Stephanie backstage.

He treated both of them very differently. Stephanie was Vince’s “little girl,” while Shane had to work very hard to prove himself and earn his father’s respect.

I don’t think so, bro, because Stephanie was always his favorite. I mean, there’s no question about that. I mean, I saw that upfront and personal. Stephanie was always his little girl and always the favorite. And Shane was the guy always having to prove himself to Vince. Always. (From 48:32)
