WWE Veteran Refused To Take A Big Bump From Big E
Big E was to land a major bump on this WWE veteran, but he refused, and they had to turn it into a spot instead.
Former WWE starand member of the faction The New Day announced his official retirement recently.
Big E suffered a severe neck injury courtesy of a belly-to-belly suplex from Ridge Holland of the Brawling Brutes during a tag match in an episode of SmackDown in 2022.
His doctors advised him never to wrestle again, and Big E has since found solace in other projects that don’t include working directly in the ring.
WWE Veteran Dutch Mantell Talks About Big E
On Story Time With Dutch Mantell, the former WWE booker and manager was asked by YouTube wrestling analyst James Romero to talk about Big E.
Mantell recalls a time the pair faced off. He was told to take a major bump by Big E, but the veteran thought it was too risky, so he refused. The two ended up turning the bump into a spot later.
And he says, I’m going to give you some kind of big bump.
I says regardless of whether I was supposed to be in the match or not, he wasn’t going to give me that move. I put the quietus on that right away. I said, “No,
you can’t do that.” And he says, “Well, why not? I won’t hurt you.” I said, “No,
that the I know you’re not going to try to hurt me. [laughter] It’s a thing called gravity.
but I didn’t take it. And we worked it to a spot to where he just looked at me and I got out of the something. (3:49 onwards)
