Speaking on her Too Much Information podcast, ex-WWE star Shelly Martinez (Ariel in WWE) addressed the long-standing rumor that Stephanie had made an inappropriate comment toward her during her time in WWE.

Shelly explained that when WWE transitioned to a PG product, Stephanie McMahon called all the women in the locker room together for a meeting.

During the discussion, Stephanie McMahon emphasized that the Divas needed to wear more appropriate clothing going forward. While making her point, Stephanie commented on Shelly’s outfit, which some people later interpreted as Stephanie picking up on her.

“The only time anyone ever said anything about my outfit was when they decided to go PG and Stephanie (McMahon), I was in the locker room with the divas, and she was having a meeting with us, and she was like, ‘we can’t have your a*ses hanging out.

You know, Ariel, her a*s is always hanging out,’ and it was so interesting because I remember, I have told this story a lot of times, but some haven’t heard it. It seemed like everyone in the room was kind of like, ‘she is picking on Shelly,’ cause she was like, and then we can’t you know this, ‘like Ariel, she is always looking like she is going to pop out.'”

Shelly made it clear that this was not the case. According to Shelly, Stephanie McMahon simply used her as an example during the meeting because she knew Shelly could handle the comment and would not take offense.

“She kept using her as an example, but every time she used me as an example, I though she was absolutely right, yeah I got the memo because again no one ever said anything about the way I dressed ever, that was the only time anything, and then it was really cool because after the meeting was over, she said ‘I just wanted to tell everybody I am not picking on Ariel I just know she’ll handle it that’s why was using her as example.'”
