WWE Star Expresses Creative Frustration Over Storyline With Roman Reigns
A current WWE star has opened up about his frustration with the way his storyline with Roman Reigns played out.
Austin Theory received a significant push under Vince McMahon’s regime following his move to the main roster. He was even associated on-screen with the former chairman.
In 2022, the 28-year-old won the Money in the Bank briefcase. However, Theory surprisingly cashed in on the United States Champion Seth Rollins instead of the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns. He still failed to capture the title due to interference from Bobby Lashley.
Austin Theory Feels He Was Robbed In The Controversial WWE Storyline
In a recent interview with Logan Paul on ImPaulsive, Austin Theory was asked whether he felt robbed by his failed Money in the Bank cash-in. He admitted that he did.
Theory also reflected on his promo with Roman Reigns ahead of the cash-in, during which The OTC told him, “Your daddy’s not here anymore,” in reference to Vince McMahon. At the time, McMahon had retired amid an investigation into alleged misconduct. The former United States Champion admitted he felt he could have turned the line back on The Bloodline leader, arguing that Reigns had also been a Vince McMahon guy.
I think for me, I just felt like, you know, even with the moment I had with Roman, I believe it was at maybe Barclays Center, and he hit me with the ‘your daddy’s not here anymore.’ In that moment, I wanted to say the same thing to him, you know, because in a way it’s like he was a Vince guy as well. Not in a way—he was.
Meanwhile, the current member of The Vision expressed his frustration with how WWE handled the storyline creatively.
But I felt like, yeah, there could have been a moment. Like, I knew we weren’t going to get the title off Roman, but even just building it to seem like, ‘Oh, here we go.’ And then, you know, I could lose to him, whatever, but just give it more of a payoff because it felt cool, man. Like, I did a lot of cool things with it. [H/T: RingsideNews]
