Claudio Castagnoli has recalled finding out he was being paired with another WWE Superstar on Twitter before the pair went on to huge success.

Known to many as ‘The Brass Ring Club’, Tyson Kidd and Claudio Castagnoli – known to WWE fans as Cesaro – teamed together for the first half of 2015 and held the WWE Tag Team Championships for six months during this time.

Unfortunately, their run as partners was cut short when Kidd suffered a neck and spinal injury during a match with Samoa Joe in June 2015. The injury eventually led to his official retirement in 2017.

Speaking to Chris Van Vliet on a live edition of his Insight podcast during Starrcast V, Claudio Castagnoli revealed how he found out about the pairing on social media ahead of their first match together.

“We found out on Twitter that we would be teaming up on Raw that night in a tag team gauntlet. That is legit how we found out. We get to the arena and it’s like I guess we are teaming together tonight. We were always friends, but then the first time we teamed was that night and it instantly clicked.”

Castagnoli recently signed with AEW and made his debut at Forbidden Door, replacing fellow Blackpool Combat Club member Bryan Danielson in a match against NJPW’s Zack Sabre Jr.

Since then, he has captured his first world championship by defeating Jonathan Gresham to win Ring Of Honor’s top title.
