WWE Star Confirms Retirement & Encourages Wrestlers To Use His Move
This WWE legend has confirmed that he will never wrestle again.
AJ Styles has had an illustrious career in WWE. He is one of the most decorated wrestlers of the past decade. The Phenomenal One joined WWE in 2016 and, in his 10 years with the company, became a Grand Slam Champion and even main evented WrestleMania 36 Night 1.
Before WWE, Styles was a major wrestling star in other promotions, such as New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW), Ring of Honor (ROH), and even one that he helped build, Total Non-Stop Action (TNA).
Styles was to retire this year, but fans were shocked when he put his own career on the line against the Career Killer Gunther at the Royal Rumble earlier this year, as they didn’t expect him to retire this early in the year. Styles lost to Gunther after passing out to his deadly sleeper hold, and later took his gloves off to leave in the ring as a gesture of retirement.
The rumour mills were rampant with scuttlebutt that Styles would join AEW or make a comeback in WWE, but the Phenomenal One has now become a mentor for younger talent and has confirmed that he will never wrestle again.
Along with the legacy Styles has left behind, as he rides off into the sunset, he has one thing to grant to his younger peers.
WWE Legend AJ Styles Urges Current Wrestlers To Use His Styles Clash Finisher
For a brief period last year, AJ Styles and Dragn Lee were the World Tag Team Champions. They were an exciting pair, and their contrasting Styles worked very well when they wrestled together.
Speaking on his Phenomenally Retro podcast, Styles said that he wants wrestlers like Dragon Lee to use his finishing move. Although this is something that bothers some wrestlers, Styles clarified that it doesn’t bother him.
He then says that he himself won’t use it anymore, confirming his retirement from in-ring competition.
Listen, Dragon did reach out and was like, ‘Hey man, you care?’ Please, please use it. Anybody who wants to use it, it’s all yours. The Phenomenal Forearm, use it. It’s out there. I know (Will) Ospreay does it. Do it, dude. It doesn’t bother me, not one bit. AJ Styles isn’t going to use it anymore. I hope it can find itself in professional wrestling for a long time.
AJ Styles was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame class of 2026. It was announced on the episode of Raw after the Royal Rumble. The entire roster came out to pay tribute to the star and WWE legend, the Undertaker rode out to the ring on his iconic motorbike to personally break the news to Styles that he had been inducted.
