WWE Splitting Tag Team Championships Once Again

The Usos face down Judgment Day WWE Raw

Following the huge tag team turmoil match on Monday Night Raw it looks like WWE is set to split the Raw and SmackDown Tag Team Titles once again.

The Usos have held the SmackDown Tag Team Championship for over 540 days, smashing WWE’s record for the longest WWE Tag Team Title reign of all time. Jimmy and Jey Uso captured that title from Rey and Dominik Mysterio back at Money In The Bank in July 2021 and added to their legacy when they also won the Raw Tag Team Championship from Randy Orton and Matt Riddle in May 2022.

Since that latter win, The Usos have been referred to as the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions but now it looks like that particular title could be coming to an end.

On the 9th of January edition of Monday Night Raw a tag team turmoil match took place with the company putting the emphasis on the fact that the winners would receive a shot at the Raw Tag Team Championship.

The Judgment Day duo of Finn Balor and Damian Priest overcame The OC pair of Gallows and Anderson, Shelton Benjamin and Cedric Alexander, and Alpha Academy before Balor had to withdraw due to an apparent injury and jailbird Dominik Mysterio replacing him in the final face-off with the Street Profits.

A roll-up from Mysterio on Angelo Dawkins was enough for The Judgment Day to pick up the win and they were soon confronted by The Usos who made a point to hold up only the Raw Tag Team Championship belts.

Many believe that the storyline with Sami Zayn and The Bloodline will lead to a tag team match with The Usos facing Zayn and Kevin Owens at WrestleMania 39. With The Usos only putting their Raw Title on the line against The Judgment Day in the future then the potential WrestleMania match could solely be for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship.
