WWE has indicated a new SmackDown spin-off show could be hitting TV screens soon as the company has filed a new trademark related to the blue brand.

WWE has filed a new trademark for “WWE The SmackDown Lowdown”. As yet, there has been no official announcement made, but the trademark, filed at the United States Patent and Trademark Office, confirms it will be “an ongoing television show about professional wrestling”.

It is unknown if the series would be in addition to Talking Smack or a replacement for the current SmackDown round-up and interview show.

WWE is currently reeling from the huge news that Vince McMahon is stepping back as CEO and Chairman while investigation into an alleged pay-off given to a former employee is carried out. The investigation relates to allegations that McMahon paid $3 million to a former employee with whom he had previously had an affair.

While the investigation is ongoing, Stephanie McMahon will take on the role of interim CEO and Chairwoman.

Surprisingly, WWE has announced that Vince McMahon will appear on the June 17th edition of SmackDown. Interestingly it has been reported by Alex Sherman that the appearance will be made “in character”.
