Stephanie McMahon Comments On WWE CEO Appointment

Stephanie McMahon

Stephanie McMahon has given her first public comment since it was announced that she was to take over from her father as WWE’s CEO and Chairwoman on an interim basis.

Following reports first published by the Wall Street Journal that WWE Chairman Vince McMahon was being investigated by the company’s board for misconduct allegations, WWE announced that he was to step back from his dual role as boss of the company.

The board is investigating a $3 million payment said to have been made by him to a former employee of the company in return for them signing a non-disclosure agreement.

The employee was hired by the company as a paralegal in 2019 with the report saying an anonymous email was sent to WWE’s board on March 30th, 2022 by a friend of the employee in question which alleged that the employee’s salary was doubled from $100,000 to $200,000 after beginning an intimate relationship with the WWE Chairman.

As part of the investigation, further payments and NDAs were discovered relating to misconduct allegations levelled at McMahon and WWE’s Head of Talent Relations, John Laurinaitis.

With Stephanie McMahon now in charge of WWE, at least for the time being, she has taken to social media to comment on her new role:

Until the conclusion of the investigation into recent allegations, I am honored to assume the role of interim Chairwoman & CEO. I love @WWEand all it continues to do to entertain billions around the world.”
