WWE SmackDown Main Event Locks In Saturday Night’s Main Event Field

WWE SmackDown Arena

The main event of WWE SmackDown tonight set the field for a huge number one contender’s match for the Undisputed WWE Championship.

Nick Aldis announced four qualifying matches for tonight and stated that the winners of these matches will face each other in a fatal-four-way clash at next week’s Saturday Night’s Main Event.

Randy Orton, Trick Williams, and Damian Priest became the first three to advance to the number one contender’s match, leaving the final spot open for one of Sami Zayn and Ilja Dragunov.

Sami Zayn clinches the last spot for WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event

Dragunov and Zayn faced each other recently when the Mad Dragon made his long-awaited return from a lengthy knee injury and answered Sami’s open challenge for the WWE United States Championship.

Dragunov emerged victorious the last time they faced each other, and Zayn was cautious not to make the same mistake again. The two former United States Champions pushed each other to their limits as they looked to get their hands on the WWE Championship.

Sami had Ilja scouted following their earlier meeting and was ready for what the Mad Dragon threw at him. He ensured that history didn’t repeat itself tonight and followed an exploder suplex into the turnbuckle with a Helluva Kick to seal his spot at SNME.
