The WWE SmackDown brand is looking ahead to the Elimination Chamber PLE with two big qualifying matches.

Roman Reigns and Liv Morgan were the big winners at the Royal Rumble PLE by winning the Men’s and Women’s Royal Rumble matches. Because of their victories, they get to choose what champion they will face at WrestleMania 42.

During a promo segment on WWE Raw in Philadelphia, Roman Reigns announced that he would challenge CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Title because he hates Punk.

As for Liv Morgan, she said she still had to think about it and would be appearing on WWE SmackDown in Charlotte, NC, to help her decide.

The champions who aren’t picked by the Royal Rumble winners will likely be defending their WWE World Titles against the winners of the Men’s and Women’s Elimination Chamber matches, which take place on February 28th at the Elimination Chamber PLE in Chicago.

In a video on social media, SmackDown GM Nick Aldis announced two triple threat matches and other segments for the show.

  • Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match: Randy Orton vs. Solo Sikoa vs. Aleister Black
  • Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match: Lash Legend vs. Chelsea Green vs. Tiffany Stratton
  • WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship: RHIYO (Rhea Ripley & IYO SKY) (c) vs. Giulia & Kiana James
  • Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Tama Tonga
  • Liv Morgan to appear

CM Punk Likely Defending World Title At WWE Elimination Chamber

The Elimination Chamber PLE is likely to feature some other matches as well.

One of the rumored matches at WWE Elimination Chamber could see CM Punk defending the World Heavyweight Title against Finn Balor.

Even though CM Punk already successfully defended the World Heavyweight Title against Finn Balor on the January 19th episode of Raw in Belfast, Balor attacked Punk one week later on Raw because he wanted another shot at Punk.

Since Elimination Chamber is in Chicago, where Punk is from, and Punk already beat Balor in Belfast, which is near where Balor grew up, it would be a case of Punk willingly defending his title against Balor, except this time Punk would have the home-field advantage.
