WWE Royal Rumble 2023 Likely To Set Massive Record

WWE Royal Rumble Arena

It would appear that WWE is set to get back on track after what ended up being a tough Royal Rumble in 2022, with next year’s event on course to set an incredible record.

The Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas will play host to the Royal Rumble for the third time, having previously housed the event in both 1997 and 2017. The first of those events created history for hometown hero ‘The Heartbreak Kid’ Shawn Michaels, who won the WWE Championship that night.

A new report from Fightful Select has indicated that the Texan venue is set to break a new record when it reaches the hat-trick of Royal Rumbles. The report claims that the previous gross revenue and ticket sales records for the over-the-top spectacle, which was set at the previous event at The Alamodome, is on course to be surpassed in 2023.

The report goes on to claim that 25,000 tickets have already been sold for the event according to a WWE source. This would set the record for a first on-sale weekend for the Royal Rumble in terms of both gross revenue and tickets sold. At this stage the venue has also not been fully opened for sale, although given the interest at this stage it is highly likely that more areas will become available.

The 2022 edition of the event saw Ronda Rousey and Brock Lesnar stamp their tickets for WrestleMania 37. However, there was much discussion after the event about the short-lived return of Shane McMahon, who both appeared in the men’s match and acted as an agent.
