WWE Releases Former Champion After Fan-Elbowing Incident
Over time, WWE has tightened the screws on its talents when it comes to fan interactions.
The higher-ups have a strict policy regarding wrestlers getting physical with fans, which can result in them being reprimanded and subsequent fines, or even removed from the company.
A similar rule is in place for fans, who might try to get touchy-feely with their favorite performers. Crossing such boundaries can lead to a person getting ejected from the arena and a lifetime ban from attending any shows.
On one of the SmackDown episodes in February last year, a brawl between Braun Strowman and Jacob Fatu spilled into the audience. The segment also witnessed Fatu shoving an audience member.
The incident was featured in Season 1 of WWE: Unreal, with Triple H and Bruce Prichard looking visibly upset until they realized that the fan was an extra.
These incidents were more common in the 80s and 90s, with the numbers depleting after the turn of the century. Now, a wrestler has been fired by the Stamford promotion, following an elbowing incident.
WWE Fires AAA’s Nino Hamburguesa
WWE announced the acquisition of Mexico’s AAA in April last year. Since then, they have jointly produced several events, allowing talent swap between both companies to further storylines.
One of the talents on the AAA roster was Nico Hamburguesa. His gimmick is that of a short and stout individual, portrayed as a food-loving character, with ability to perform athletic maneuvers.
The character has been cherished by the local audience, but those days are behind him, at least in AAA.
An incident of him elbowing a fan recently was uploaded online, resulting in his firing from the Mexican promotion, which is now under the WWE banner.
A report by Bodyslam.net confirmed that the incident occurred during an independent show.
Niño Hamburguesa has been released from his AAA contract after a clip of him hitting a fan on an independent show went viral.
