Stephanie Vaquer was absent on Monday Night RAW this week.

La Primera won the Evolution Battle Royal this year, which earned her the right to challenge Naomi for the Women’s World Championship at Clash in Paris. Also, on the August 11 edition of Monday Night RAW, IYO Sky was supposed to challenge Naomi for the title, but she missed the show.

On the August 18 edition of RAW, the fans found out that Naomi was pregnant, and she had to vacate the title after the revelation, ending her title reign at 36 days and stepping away from in-ring action for at least nine months.

With Naomi medically sidelined and the title vacant, WWE scheduled a new showdown for Wrestlepalooza on September 20, where both Vaquer and IYO SKY would compete for the vacant Women’s World Championship.

Both challengers were scheduled for a contract signing segment for their Wrestlepalooza title clash on the September 8 edition of RAW. SKY was present on the Monday night show, but Vaquer didn’t show up. Therefore, the segment was suddenly canceled without any clear explanation.

Sean Ross Sapp on Stephanie Vaquer’s WWE RAW Absence

WWE offered no comment, and speculation quickly grew. Fans online questioned whether backstage issues or last-minute changes were the cause, leaving the future of the Women’s World Championship even more uncertain. Sean Ross Sapp provided an update on the matter on his post-RAW show. He revealed that people backstage were also legitimately confused about Vaquer’s absence.

“So, I had talent telling me they didn’t know what was going on. Like, Raw talent telling me they didn’t know what was happening with Stephanie Vaquer. There was confusion.”

“When I asked people within WWE what the deal was, they were like, ‘Oh, well, she’s still doing the match.’ That’s what we were all told today, that she would be at the show doing the match for Wrestlepalooza.”

“There’s probably more than meets the eye there, but WWE is adamant that the match is going to happen.”

As for now, it seems IYO SKY vs. Stephanie Vaquer will certainly take place at Wrestlepalooza.
