Major WWE Prediction: “There’s Not Gonna Be Another John Cena”
WWE recently released several superstars following WrestleMania 42.
Talent from the main roster, NXT, and the developmental brand were let go. Some of the notable names include Bo Dallas, Nikki Cross, Kairi Sane, Aleister Black, Zelina Vega, Alba Fyre, and Zoey Stark, among others.
According to the reports, the layoffs were made to trim costs, cut high-priced underutilized talent, and create roster space for new, yet-to-be-announced recruits, as well as potential call-ups from NXT.
Vince Russo Reacts to WWE’s Post-WrestleMania 42 Releases
Veterans Vince Russo and Jonathan Coachman discussed the recent wave of mass roster cuts on a recent episode of The Coach & Bro Show, where Coachman asked Russo to share his insights on the situation.
Russo replied that WWE is no longer trying to build one massive, long-term megastar like John Cena, who can serve as the face of WWE for years.
Instead, WWE appears to be rotating new talent in and out, focusing more on a system that consistently produces performers rather than creating irreplaceable icons. Russo added that while this approach may help keep the product stable, it could also prevent the rise of another breakout star on the level of John Cena.
It tells me there’s not going to be another John Cena. What did Triple H tell Ryback 10 years ago? There’s not going to be another. And listen, I always give him credit for this because he has lived up to that. He basically said, “This is going to be a factory.
We’re going to run people through the factory. Once you’ve given your time to the company, you’re going to go out back to the assembly line and pull the next wrestler off the assembly line. That’s exactly the model, exactly what they’re doing. (From 29:24)
