WWE NXT Star Missing Upcoming Shows Due To Eye Injury

A top WWE NXT wrestler will be out of action for about two weeks while dealing with an eye injury while also providing a photo on social media.

On the February 7th edition of NXT, JD McDonagh interrupted a promo from Carmelo Hayes just as Hayes was about to talk about his intentions of becoming the NXT Champion. McDonagh, who has been a title contender in the past, thought that he should be the next title challenger.

During that same episode, McDonagh and Hayes had a match that was very good as usual from guys as talented as them. The finish was a bit cheap because Ilja Dragunov made his NXT return, which distracted JD, who took credit for taking out Dragunov in the past.

Carmelo Hayes ended up taking advantage of Dragunov’s presence and Hayes hooked the arm of McDonagh leading to a cradle pin for the win.

After the match, Dragunov attacked McDonagh with a forearm to the face. McDonagh ran away before Dragunov could do more damage. During the match or post-match altercation, McDonagh suffered a detached retina in his right eye that will put him out of action for 10-14 days.

The rivalry between McDonagh and Dragunov took place in the second half of 2022. They were two of the top stars on the NXT UK brand before that.

JD McDonagh provided an update on Twitter showing the injured eye.
