WWE NXT Scores Massive Ratings Win Over Record-Low AEW Dynamite
The WWE NXT and AEW Dynamite shows went head to head for one hour on a night that saw NXT dominate against the competition.
For the second week in a row, WWE NXT was on the road with the new NXT Champion Trick Williams kicking off a show that ended with Randy Orton beating Je’Von Evans. In addition to that, NXT also had two title matches as Tony D’Angelo beat Oba Femi for the North American Title while Nathan Frazer & Axiom retained the Tag Team Titles over Austin Theory & Grayson Waller.
There was also more WWE main roster talent on NXT since the Women’s Tag Teams Champion Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill were in action teaming up with Kelani Jordan to beat Fatal Influence.
Jey Uso, the Intercontinental Champion on the Raw brand, also appeared with Williams in the opening show while Wes Lee interrupted Trick because he wanted a shot at the NXT Title.
According to PWTorch, NXT’s second week on the CW went well with an audience of 874,000 viewers and a 0.24 rating in the 18-49 demo. While not as strong as NXT’s first episode on the CW with 895,000 viewers, it was only a drop of 2.4% from last week.
It’s also the second-highest rating any show on The CW has done in 2024, so it will likely make the network very happy.
As noted by F4WOnline, this week’s NXT audience was 38.5% higher compared to the ten-week average, which includes the final eight episodes on the USA Network and last week’s show.
AEW Dynamite Audience Goes Way Down Going Against WWE NXT
A rare Tuesday night edition of AEW Dynamite called Title Tuesday did not fare well in terms of its television audience. The reason Dynamite was on Tuesday instead of Wednesday is because of the MLB Playoffs, so it’s certainly possible that some fans didn’t know Dynamite was on a different night.
There was also a different start time for Dynamite since it began at 9 p.m. ET for two hours until 8 p.m. ET even though the usual start time is 8 p.m. ET Wednesdays. The first hour of Dynamite went head to head against NXT.
It was reported by PWTorch that AEW Dynamite on TBS averaged 329,000 viewers, compared to 680,000 the prior week, which means it was down 51.6% the week prior. It’s also officially the lowest audience for an episode of Dynamite in the five year history of the show.
Dynamite also had a 0.10 rating in the 18-49 demo, which is down 50% from the 0.20 last week.
AEW presents the WrestleDream PPV this Saturday, October 12th.
