Raw star confesses that WWE originally did not plan for her to step inside the ring for in-ring action.

Maxxine Dupri signed with WWE in August 2021 after being selected through a WWE tryout. She spent some time in NXT before being drafted to the main roster on SmackDown.

She made her main roster debut as the on-screen sister of Max Dupri and the director of talent for his heel stable, Maximum Male Models, which consisted of Mace and Mansoor. After several months, she was drafted to Raw, where she started a storyline with Otis and Chad Gable and joined the Alpha Academy.

Since then, she has come a long way. Dupri made her in-ring debut in July 2023 in a mixed tag team match where Alpha Academy took on The Viking Raiders. Since then, she has been featured on Raw sporadically.

Last November, Dupri received a major push when she defeated Becky Lynch to win her first singles title, the Women’s Intercontinental Championship. She is currently embroiled in a rivalry with Nattie, her former mentor, who turned on her a few weeks ago.

WWE Originally Had No Plans For Maxxine Dupri To Wrestle

Maxxine Dupri recently appeared on the Impaulsive podcast, hosted by Logan Paul, where she revealed that WWE originally never planned to have her wrestle.

According to Dupri, she was supposed to remain a supporting character at ringside and not compete in the ring. However, WWE eventually saw potential in her and decided to give her an in-ring opportunity.

When I got called up, I was just a manager. I wasn’t planning to wrestle at that point. It wasn’t in the cards for me. I mean, I wanted to, but they weren’t planning it for me. So, I wasn’t a threat to anyone. I wasn’t taking anyone’s spot. I was just in this faction ringside. [Maximum Male Models] (From 37:28)
