WWE Hall Of Famer Set For SmackDown (SPOILER)

WWE Hall of Fame 2022 JBL The Bella Twins The British Bulldog

A recent WWE Hall of Fame inductee is slated to make their return to WWE programming ahead of tonight’s Friday Night SmackDown tapings!

Tonight’s SmackDown is the penultimate edition before Clash At The Castle, with the semifinals of the Women’s Tag Team Championships Tournament slated to continue. Aliyah and Raquel Rodriguez will contend the winners of a Fatal Four Way contest following Gigi Dolin being sidelined with an injury.

The episode may also see the return of John Bradshaw Layfield. Per Fightful Select, ‘The Wrestling God’ is scheduled for an appearance on the blue brand, though it’s unclear if this will air tonight or next week. WWE is taping both ahead of their jaunt to Wales.

Upon transitioning away from the Bradshaw character in 2004, he became a main event WWE Superstar. JBL lifted the WWE Championship from Eddie Guerrero within two months of the character debuting, reigning for 280 days until John Cena usurped him at WrestleMania 21.

JBL retired from active competition after dropping the Intercontinental Championship to Rey Mysterio four years later. He remains affiliated with the company and provided commentary across WWE programming between 2012 and 2017, though he’s remained a sporadic announcer since.

He last commentated at WrestleMania 37 as a guest voice for Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn. JBL was also officially inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame that weekend, following the postponement of the 2020 induction ceremony.
