WWE Hall Of Famer Reveals When Cody Rhodes Should Turn Heel

Cody Rhodes WWE

Cody Rhodes lost the Undisputed WWE Championship to Drew McIntyre on the latest episode of WWE SmackDown.

The feud had been brewing for a while, and the former champion agreed to the ‘Three Stages of Hell’ stipulation set by The Scotsman.

Maybe Rhodes would have retained the title, but when Jacob Fatu interfered, The American Nightmare’s morality cost him the title. Rhodes stopped The Samoan Werewolf from attacking McIntyre, but when Fatu attacked Rhodes, The Scottish Warrior escaped the ring to secure the victory.

Cody Rhodes should turn heel, but when is the right time?

Talks of The American Nightmare turning heel have been going on for a while. However, he hasn’t turned, but an extremely aggressive side of his character had surfaced during the run-up to the championship match against Drew McIntyre.

On Busted Open Radio, WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray explained that WWE should not turn Rhodes heel until there is nothing more to squeeze out of him as a babyface. It needs to be at the right time so that it’s a success. Additionally, there needs to be a big enough babyface that will stand up to Cody Rhodes when he turns heel.

The time to turn Cody Rhodes heel is when you’ve milked every ounce of babyface dollar and cents out of him, and when it makes sense for him to turn heel in the story. Hulk Hogan, one of the most loved wrestlers of all time, turned heel and it worked like a charm. John Cena, one of the most loved babyfaces in the history of wrestling, turned heel and it did not work. Steve Austin turned at WrestleMania and it kind of worked, I don’t know…Here’s the number one thing, if you’re going to turn Cody Rhodes heel, who is the babyface that you’re turning Cody Rhodes heel for? Additionally, there is no financial gain for WWE in turning Rhodes heel since he earns significantly by working as a babyface.

Nevertheless, it has been said that The American Nightmare will go through a character shift after the loss of the title.
