WWE Hall Of Famer Recalls Randy Savage’s Paranoia Over Miss Elizabeth
WWE Hall of Famer Ted DiBiase shed light on the intense protectiveness and paranoia displayed by “Macho Man” Randy Savage toward his then-wife, Miss Elizabeth, during their time in the wrestling industry.
Speaking on his Everybody’s Got a Pod podcast, DiBiase recounted how Randy Savage’s concerns influenced their backstage dynamics.
He and Elizabeth would have their own dressing room, and I get that but here you are and your wife is part of the show, and your wife’s a good-looking girl—it’s kind of like if you love her enough that you married her, that must mean you trust her. But everything else Randy did said otherwise. It’s kind of like maybe he trusted her, but obviously, he wouldn’t trust any of the wrestlers.
Savage’s insistence on isolating Elizabeth from the rest of the roster reflected his deep mistrust, which DiBiase suggested may have been excessive. DiBiase shared that he would have taken a different approach if his own wife, Melanie, had been involved in the wrestling business.
I get that, but by the same token, if you know who your wife is… Melanie didn’t want to be a part of the show, but if anything like that had ever been, I had full trust in her. If anybody smarted off to her or said something off-key to her, she’d come back to me and say, ‘Hey, so and so was running his mouth.’
What Did A Former WWE Referee Say About Working In “Macho Man” Randy Savage’s Matches?
Former WWE referee Earl Hebner explained why he didn’t enjoy being the official for Randy Savage’s matches and said that because Savage wanted to script almost everything that happened in his matches made it very hard to know what he had to do and when.
