WWE Shares Graphic Photos Of Cody Rhodes After Randy Orton’s Shocking Attack

Cody Rhodes suffered one of the worst betrayals of his wrestling career on Friday.

During the contract signing between him and Randy Orton for the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 42, The Viper turned on him and beat him mercilessly.

Their segment began on a cordial note, with Rhodes even reassuring Orton that he had rightfully earned his place in the main event, urging him to sign on the dotted line.

Once he did, both superstars hugged. However, Orton slammed Rhodes’s head so hard on the table that it left him staggering, and followed it up with a low kick.

Orton then tore off the 40-year-old’s suspenders and shirt before sending him to the floor. Randy then smashed the steel steps on Rhodes’ head, leaving him bleeding profusely.

The 45-year-old even shoved general manager Nick Aldis and, later, Grammy Award-winning artist Jelly Roll, when they tried to intervene.

Orton then rested Cody Rhodes’ head in between the steel steps and hit him with a chair. He then sat in the ring while holding the WWE Championship as the medical staff checked on Rhodes.

There is no question that Randy Orton’s attack on Cody Rhodes sent the WWE Universe into a spiral.

Following Orton’s babyface portrayal over the last few years, the Internet Wrestling Community has called for the revival of the 2009 Randy Orton. Whether or not the fans get the same version or a different one remains to be seen.

Meanwhile, members of Rhodes’ family took to the internet to express their shock and disappointment towards Orton’s actions on SmackDown.

WWE’s X account, too, shared photos of the aftermath of Randy Orton’s attack, showing Cody Rhodes in a state of disorientation, with a deep cut on his forehead.
