WWE Champion Cody Rhodes Names Best Moment Of His Career
Since returning to WWE in 2022, Cody Rhodes has had an enviable in-ring presence.
Rhodes is also a multi-time Undisputed WWE Champion and is currently in his third run, which started on March 6, 2026.
The American Nightmare is scheduled to defend his title against Gunther at the Clash in Italy PLE tomorrow.
Cody Rhodes, who has had numerous memorable bouts in the Stamford promotion since his return, has been on a media tour to promote the upcoming premium live event.
During a recent interview on The Rich Eisen Show, the 40-year-old was asked about his greatest moment in the squared circle. Without hesitation, he placed his victory over Roman Reigns at WrestleMania XL at the top.
Oh, God. That should be an easier answer, but it has to likely be WrestleMania 40, because capturing — I just took it off my shoulder because it was getting uncomfortable. But capturing the WWE Championship is probably the most real story that I could possibly tell in sports entertainment and pro wrestling that blends fact and fiction.
Because it was the title that my dad never won and was so close to winning, and I really thought it was out of my hands by the time I’d come back to WWE. To be able to hold it up, hand it to my mom.
It’s also lingering today, because everyone who have put me on their shoulders in the ring and celebrated — almost all of them have turned on me uh at this point. So like, all modern WWE spins out of Wrestlemania 40. And that that has to be the the best moment in my career.
Cody Rhodes Itching To Face R-Truth
While Cody Rhodes will face Gunther on Sunday, he also has his sights set on R-Truth for personal reasons.
During the interview, the second-generation wrestler was asked about the win he would like to get back. In response, he recalled his first stint in WWE, where he performed under different gimmicks, including the “Dashing” Cody Rhodes and Stardust.
Rhodes stated that he would like to take on R-Truth, who won numerous matches against him during his first run in the company.
A match I wish I could get my win back is — this is a bit inside baseball, but this is the truth and he knows it, no pun intended. Ron Killings has been ducking me. And I whispered in his ear two weeks ago that I never forget anything. And he made my life a living hell when I was Dashing Cody Rhodes, when I was Stardust. And I think he’s got like 30-some victories on me.
Finishing the story, the term we have and Michael Cole coined at WWE, really wasn’t about winning the WWE Title. It’s about beating Ron, beating Truth. And when I do that, I’ll be complete. I can sleep at night after I after I beat Truth. I can. I’m petty, Triple S. I’m very petty. [H/T: 411mania.com]
