WWE Officially Announces In-Ring Return Of RAW Star After 371 Days

A WWE RAW star is set to return to the ring after 371 days.

Last year, Chad Gable started wearing a mask during his feud with Rey Mysterio. He also took on the persona El Grande Americano. While it was clearly evident that Chad Gable was posing as Americano, he denied it.

However, Gable suffered a major setback when he got injured and had to be sidelined. Since then, it was Ludwig Kaiser who took on the role as El Grande Americano. He played the role perfectly and even managed to get over with the fans. Soon, Americano became a big hit in AAA. When Chad Gable returned from his injury at the 2026 Royal Rumble, he started calling himself the Original El Grande Americano. This kickstarted the Battle of the Americanos. This feud finally culminated in a mask vs. mask match at AAA Noche de Los Grandes which was won by El Grande Americano. After the match, Original El Grande Americano removed his mask and revealed himself to be Chad Gable.

Since then Gable has made appearances on RAW and SmackDown where he has apologized to Rey Fenix, Penta, Rey Mysterio, and Dragon Lee. Last week on WWE RAW, Rusev and Ethan Page ambushed Penta and Rey Mysterio after the luchadors’ match. Rusev even unmasked Rey Mysterio. Chad Gable came out and suplexed Ethan Page and Rusev. After the heels retreated, Gable handed Rey’s mask to Penta, officially signalling his babyface turn.

Chad Gable will compete in a WWE ring for the first time in 371 days

WWE RAW General Manager Adam Pearce took to Instagram to reveal the lineup for the upcoming episode of the red brand. He said that the semifinals of both the King and Queen of the Ring tournament will take place on Monday. He also announced that Chad Gable will be returning to the ring against Rusev. The last time that Chad Gable competed under that ring name was on 9th June 2025.

“Monday Night RAW is live this week from Baltimore, Maryland, and we are looking at the semifinals of both the King and Queen of the Ring tournaments. On the men’s side, Oba Femi goes in the ring and opposes one of my favorite people on planet Earth, “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio. On the women’s side, IYO Sky battles Raquel Rodriguez, and one other matchup love to get out there. Rusev will go toe-to-toe with the returning Chad Gable. All that and so much more. It’s Monday Night Raw live from Baltimore, 8pm Eastern, 5pm Pacific. We’re live around the world on Netflix, and Roman Reigns is back on the flagship. That is official.”
