5-Time WWE Champion Officially Turns Babyface On RAW

A massive babyface turn officially took place on WWE RAW.

For over a year, Chad Gable has been making fun of the lucha libre culture during his feud against Rey Mysterio. He even started wearing a mask and calling himself El Grande Americano. While many people could tell it was Chad Gable under the mask, he kept denying that he was the masked star.

When Chad Gable got injured and was sidelined, Ludwig Kaiser started portraying the El Grande Americano character. He was able to establish himself as a top star on RAW. El Grande Americano even got over in AAA. When Chad Gable returned from his injury at the 2026 Royal Rumble, he started calling himself the Original El Grande Americano. Thus began the battle of the Americanos. This feud culminated in a mask vs. mask match at AAA Noche de Los Grandes. It was El Grande Americano who emerged victorious. Following the match, the Original El Grande Americano unmasked himself and revealed that he was Chad Gable.

On SmackDown, Chad Gable showed up to apologize to Rey Fenix for disrespecting the lucha libre culture. Tonight on WWE RAW, he even apologized to Rey Mysterio, Penta, and Dragon Lee for his past actions.

Later on in the show, Rusev and Ethan Page attacked Penta and Rey Mysterio after the luchadors’ match. Dragon Lee tried to make the save, but Page sent him flying over the barricade. Rusev then unmasked Rey Mysterio as Ethan Page forced Penta to watch. Chad Gable’s music hit, and he came down to the ring. He took out Rusev and Ethan Page with multiple German suplexes. Gable then took Mysterio’s mask and handed it to Penta, signalling a babyface turn.

It will be interesting to see Chad Gable receive a massive push after turning babyface.
