William Regal and AEW star Claudio Castagnoli have both shared their thoughts on the 10th anniversary of Regal’s last match.

Claudio Castagnoli and William Regal were reunited – albeit briefly – in AEW as part of the Blackpool Combat Club but their connection stretches back a lot further than that.

On the 21st of November 2013, William Regal had the final match of his storied career against Castagnoli – then known as Cesaro – in WWE NXT.

Taking to social media, Castagnoli revealed that the Blackpool Combat Club group chat had reminded him of the anniversary of the match as he paid tribute to Regal:

It’s been brought up (BCC group chat) that it’s been 10 years since this, William Regal’s final match, happened. It’s one of my favorite matches/moments of my career against someone who advanced my career so much and still keeps me on my toes. Thank you, your Lordship. And thank you for spending time to read this and following my career and sharing those moments with me.

William Regal Reflects On The End Of His Career

William Regal also reflected on his final match on social media, as he paid tribute to Claudio Castagnoli as well as those he shared his 30-year in-ring career with:

It’s 10 years today since my final bout against @ClaudioCSRO. I couldn’t of gone out with a better bout against someone I rated extremely highly and cared for. Thank you very much indeed to everyone who made that 30 years run in the ring and charmed life possible. x.

William Regal’s AEW exit left another BCC member sad as he asked to be released from his contract so he could ultimately return to WWE to work closely with his old friend Triple H.
