Vince McMahon Didn’t Like 4-Time WWE Champion For A Bizarre Reason
Vince McMahon’s preference for certain wrestler types is well-documented.
As the boss and booker of WWE, McMahon prioritized wrestlers with imposing physiques over smaller or non-bodybuilder physiques.
Under his leadership, wrestlers like Hulk Hogan, Brock Lesnar, John Cena, Brown Strowman, etc., who were known for having chiseled physiques, often found themselves at the center of storylines.
Vince McMahon sternly believed that such wrestlers were easily marketable due to their emphasis on visual impressiveness. Unfortunately, it also pushed talents with pure in-ring technical skills down the ladder in his regime.
While this bias of McMahon’s was widely discussed in wrestling circles, a bizarre reason for why he hated Daniel Bryan (Bryan Danielson) has emerged.
Vince McMahon Hated Daniel Bryan Because He Was Vegan
In the early 2010s, Daniel Bryan found immense success in WWE. One of his storylines saw him emerge as a radical and rebel against The Authority’s Triple H & Stephanie McMahon.
After turning heel, he also incorporated his vegan and environmentalist lifestyle into his storyline. As the champion, he often chastised wrestling fans for their consumption habits, which got him heat with the crowds everywhere he went.
Turns out that Vince McMahon had a personal grudge against Bryan for the silliest reason.
During a recent episode of Talk is Jericho, former WWE Champion Chris Jericho let out a shocking reason why Vince McMahon hated Bryan. The 55-year-old AEW star claimed that McMahon disliked Bryan because he was vegan.
He didn’t like Bryan [Danielson] because Bryan was a vegan. Classic Vince. There’s other reasons, but I remember that was one of it. (imitates Vince) ‘Doesn’t eat steak, ugh.’
In a separate interview last year, Bryan expressed his dissatisfaction with being unsuccessful at figuring out his boss.
When asked if Vince was a good boss, Bryan admitted that he had his good and bad moments, which was really tough on him.
As a boss, he has his good parts and bad parts. That’s everybody. It’s a really tough thing for me. I have a hard time, internally, I’m not even talking about it in public, internally, I have a hard time with the whole concept of Vince McMahon.
While these are not words that came straight from the horse’s mouth, it may be considered believable, as Jericho was one of McMahon’s close, known associates, maintaining a professional working relationship for nearly two decades.
