Why Vince McMahon Banned Current WWE Star’s Finishing Move
One WWE star has explained exactly why Vince McMahon banned their dreaded finishing move.
Before Vince McMahon was forced to leave as WWE boss, he was known for his interesting decision-making. McMahon micromanaged every part of his empire, and sometimes the decisions that played out on-screen left many people scratching their heads.
Sometimes the decisions, such as to ban the piledriver, were made with safety in mind. But what really lay behind his decision to ban Seth Rollins’ Curb Stomp?
Speaking on the Club Shay Shay podcast, Seth Rollins revealed he thinks a member of McMahon’s inner circle got in his ear after the move was featured in a news piece about Rollins winning the WWE Title at WrestleMania:
Yeah, he banned it. I’d been doing it for years. This is what I think happened – and I don’t have confirmation – he watched The Today Show piece, he sees the Stomp, he sees people referring to the Curb Stomp, somebody in his inner circle said, ‘Hmm, Vince I don’t know about that move, I think it might be a little too dangerous, there might be a connotation to it.’
Vince McMahon Made Decision To Spite Triple H
Instead of the Curb Stomp, Seth Rollins started using Triple H’s Pedigree to finish matches. Rollins revealed he asked Vince McMahon about using that move, knowing he would say yes just to spite Triple H:
So I was like, ‘Here’s what I’ll do – I’ll ask Vince about it, and then I know Vince will say yes, just to spite Triple H, and Triple H can’t say nothing about it.’ It was a good idea anyway. I was a bad guy, Hunter was my mentor, I was his protege, he wasn’t wrestling, it was a good way to carry on a legacy of the move. [H/T: WrestleTalk]
