Backstage Update On Stephanie McMahon’s Shock WWE Exit

Stephanie McMahon

A new update has shed light on the reaction to Stephanie McMahon resigning from WWE, including McMahon’s interesting choice of words at a talent meeting.

The turmoil at the top of WWE continues after former Chairman Vince McMahon strong-armed his way back onto the company’s Board of Directors before being named Executive Chairman. Many wondered what such a move might mean for Stephanie McMahon, given she replaced her father when he retired in July 2022. The world now has that answer.

Stephanie McMahon announced her resignation as co-CEO and Chairwoman of WWE, explaining that she was going back to the leave of absence she had begun before stepping in for Vince McMahon. Nick Khan is now the sole CEO of WWE while Triple H (Paul Levesque) continues as Chief Content Officer.

Fightful Select has issued a report on Stephanie McMahon’s exit, noting that she was well-liked in the company as was her former co-CEO Nick Khan. The report noted that at an employee meeting on the same day that it was announced Vince McMahon was returning to the WWE Board of Directors, January 6th, she confessed that “there’s naturally some animosity” before changing her choice of word to “angst” regarding her father’s return.

Several members of the WWE roster are said to be “very confused” by the situation asking what it “really” means for Stephanie McMahon as well as Nick Khan going forward. One WWE Superstar stressed that “public frustration” from the roster could arise if Vince McMahon assumes responsibility for the creative direction of the company.
